Kayaking in the Apostle Islands National Seashore
August 25 - September 3

This area, on the south shore of Lake Superior near Bayfield, WI, is a great area for kayaking, with beaches, sea caves and lighthouses. However, Lake Superior can be cold, especially in deeper areas, windy, and foggy. The distance between islands can be a couple hours’ paddle, so you need to be able to paddle comfortably for that long. You’ll need a wet suit and spray skirt for your kayak, and we’ll need to do some rescue training before we go. We’ll drive to the Apostle Islands, kayak there for Sunday-Thursday (or so, depending on interest), then drive to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the UP for a day or two of kayaking or hiking.
